Garden Group

Our raised garden beds turn the back lot into a living green space. Members plant, water, weed, and harvest together through the season, then share what comes up. It is hands in the soil, fresh air, and good company.

The Garden Group meets outdoors at El Jardín, our garden and green space behind the center. The raised beds keep the work at a comfortable height. Everyone is welcome, whether you have gardened your whole life or have never grown a thing.

The gardening does not stop when the weather turns. La Placita has an indoor hydroponics garden room, where members start seedlings and grow fresh greens under lights all year, so there is always something to tend.

Beyond the beds, the green space has shaded seating, potted flowers, and room to sit with a coffee and enjoy the outdoors. The garden murals on the back wall were painted by the Beacon School, and the recreation area next door has pickleball and shuffleboard when you feel like moving.

What we grow gets shared with members and used in the kitchen when there is enough. The garden and green space are for members, so come by on a session day or step out back any time the weather is nice.
